Pudong airport vows smooth operation during lockdown
Released:2022-04-27

Pudong International Airport in East China's Shanghai has been operating normally, even though the city has been locked down since March, to ensure the smooth operation and stabilize supply chains.

A total of 7,400 employees returned to the site on March 27, and a series of plans have been made for epidemic prevention and control, health screening, closed-loop management, preparedness and support, and emergency response. Thanks to the strict epidemic control and prevention measures, 2,405 cargo aircraft had taken off and landed at Shanghai Pudong International Airport from March 28 to April 20, according to official data.

Pudong airport launched a "green channel" to ensure the smooth flow of logistics and stabilize the industrial and supply chains. With the help of the emergency mechanism, a batch of important production materials were sent to correlative corporations in Shanghai's Zhangjiang, Kunshan and Wuxi in Jiangsu, and Hangzhou in Zhejiang.

Shanghai is China's key industrial hub for automotive vehicles, parts and components, and 70 percent of the nation's imported raw materials used in the integrated circuit and chemical industries are shipped via Shanghai. Thanks to the continuous efforts made by the airport, the transportation of some important raw materials has been ensured, and the industrial and supply chains of the Yangtze River Delta region have undergone a speedy recovery.

Pudong International Airport cooperated with logistics enterprises to ensure freight transfers and transportation, and issued more than 500 permits to vehicle owners. According to official data, the amount of daily deliveries to the airport increased to about 2,000 metric tons, which equates to 1,500 more tons than that of the number in early April.
