Based on the agreement, SAA will introduce SAIC's new energy and traditional energy vehicles, and other customized products with high quality and competitive prices to meet its diversified demands in airport operation, business, logistics and personal travel.
In the future, hydrogen fuel cell vehicles will serve as shuttle buses and for ground services and road maintenance at the airports.
Shanghai is one of the busiest aviation hub cities in the world. In 2019, its passenger and cargo throughput exceeded 120 million passengers and four million tons, ranking the fourth and third globally.
SAA always adheres to the concept of sustainable development in the construction of safe, green, smart and user-friendly airports. It also takes the lead in introducing industry-leading innovative energy-saving and environmental protection technologies in airport planning, construction and operation.
It will also join hands with SAIC Motor on the construction of its infrastructure and vehicles for ground services to continuously push forward green airport construction.
SAIC has strong independent innovation capabilities and is the only domestic enterprise that fully implements the three technical lines of pure-electric, plug-in and fuel cells. Its core technologies in batteries, electronic control and electric drive make it the leader in China and the world.
It also took the lead in the commercialization of hydrogen fuel cell passenger and commercial vehicle products in nine domestic cities, with it Maxus FCV80 fuel cell wide-body light passenger vehicle, Roewe 950 fuel cell vehicle and Shenwo fuel cell bus all reaching one million miles in driving operation.
In 2019, SAIC won the special prize at the China Automotive Industry Science and Technology Progress Award with its fuel cell vehicle key technology research and development and industrialization project. The key indicators of its new-generation fuel cell system, PROME p390, which was independently developed by its Shanghai Hydrogen Propulsion Technology (SHPT) achieved world-class standards.
In March 2020, the SHPT hydrogen fuel cell project started operations and the first phase of production is expected to reach 12,000 units.
